WebLubricate the tip of the tube for nasal insertion. 7 Insert the tube into the nostril, gently guiding towards the back of the nasopharynx and down the back of the oropharynx into the oesophagus. Continue insertion up to the measured length. Do not force the tube, pause if the child starts to cry. Continue insertion as they swallow. 8 WebMake sure the crutches are safe to use by checking the wing nuts are tight and that the crutch tips (the rubber stoppers at the bottom of the crutches) are securely attached and not worn. Your child is now ready to walk on their crutches as they have been shown. They should wear non-slip shoes (e.g. runners).
